is a transnational initiative that reimagines the choir as a civic and ecological actor. Bringing together artistic expression, environmental science, and legal advocacy, CFEL explores how collective singing can foster empathy, awareness, and responsibility for the planet. At its heart is Let’s Change the Rules, a newly commissioned fifteen-song concert in popular music styles that gives artistic voice to the recognition of ecocide as an international crime. Through collaborations with composers, legal scholars, and sustainability networks, CFEL transforms choral performance into a platform for dialogue, education, and activism—inviting the global choral community to imagine singing as ecological citizenship.
Choirs for Ecocide Law on practical level – a concert and a process
Choirs for Ecocide Law provides a sixty minute concert program, ”Let us change the rules!”, ready to be rehearsed and performed by your choir – for free. The scores package includes music made by composers from different cultures, along with guidelines for an interactive rehearsal process, and with a script for bringing the concert storyline to stage. The main purpose of this project is to raise awareness of Ecocide Law as an effective tool for a global transition to sustainability.
The free choir concert package includes:
- 15 songs by composers from different cultures – popular music aesthetics as unifying element.
- Scores in three different choral forms: SATB, SSA, unisono – mix and match, if you wish. Download for free.
- Rehearsal audio tracks for each part – tools to learn the songs easier.
- Access to the ChoirMate app – all choir materials straight to your computer, phone or digital device.
- Interactive rehearsal process guidelines – how to facilitate the discussion process during the rehearsing process.
- Concert production ideas and proposals – how about including other artists or facilitating a panel discussion?
- Media tools (flyer frames, pictures etc) – make your own local poster and invitation.

The Choirs for Ecocide Law project started with a vision to raise awareness of this powerful proposal to change the law; to let people know about it and to start taking actions to urge decision-makers in the governments of UN countries to vote yes to criminalize ECOCIDE internationally.
As our professional skills are within vocal music, and our instrument is people who sing, we decided that our action to make things happen would be to provide songs for that instrument.
We acknowledge the need of people to act and to do something for the planet. Choirs for Ecocide Law offers a tool for singers to express this need through their own choir, by being connected to each other and to act in their own community.
